Flying Fifteen open meeting at Llangorse Sailing Club

Nick & Claire Taylor sailed consistently well through all five races to take the honours in inconsistent breezes at this club, nestling in the Brecon Beacons.

The three Open, Silver and Classic fleets sailing together produced intensely competitive sailing - regularly seeing tight groups converging on critical marks and passing through finish-lines in quick succession.

Past regular winner David Morgan took on a scratch crew in Ned Pullen, inexperienced in Fifteens, and still achieved two first-places to come in second. Paul Atwell & Lyndall Merry - always a threat to the leaders - scored a highly creditable third place signalling a positive direction of travel for future events.

The Silver and Classic fleet honours went to Robert Dangerfield & Claire Ellis and Jonny Craddock & Frankie Devereux respectively.

Last word is reserved, however, for Colin Fletcher who - with a distinguished yacht-racing record but a painful hip condition - raced his newly acquired boat with crew Rebekah Hancock-Lashley, and led the fleet on more than one occasion - and gave everybody a good scare!

Thanks to Jon Heissig and Nicky Griffin and team for running a splendid event.
