After a long and action-packed week of racing, Glen Ashby (AUS) has won his eighth A-Class Catamaran World Championship, which just wrapped up in Auckland, New Zealand.
For the eighth time Ashby took the top step of the A-Cat podium, followed by Blair Tuke and Peter Burling, London 2012 49er Silver Medallists who clinched second and third place, respectively. Impressively, all three sailors wear Emirates Team New Zealand colors, making this regatta a 1-2-3 sweep for the Kiwis.
While Ashby was dominant all week, plenty of sailors experienced equipment frustrations as the bleeding edge development class boats, now foiling, met breezy conditions and talent-packed racecourses.
Sail-World's Richard Gladwell had interviewed the podium players. Gotta watch...

Nice to read the very detailed Etchells NSW titles report from John Curnow, where GT, Mothy and Grunter prevailed (AKA Graeme Taylor, Steve Jarvin and Grant Simmer.) A real sailing report from a real sailor.
In the 18ft Skiffs NSW Championship 2014 Gotta Love It 7's Seve Jarvin, (Mothy Junior) Sam Newton, and Scott Babbage gave another strong display in tough conditions to take out Race four on Sydney Harbour today.
Hobie 16 World Championships 2014 Hobie Cat Australasia
Hobie 16 World Championships - a tough final final day on Jervis Bay, with three races. The world turned upside down for defending Hobie 16 World Champion Jerome Le Gal's with his race eleven Black Flag Disqualification (BFD) placing him 57th for the race and ultimately costing him the title.
Australia's Gavin Colby and Josie Mark are crowned the 2014 Hobie 16 World Champions.
Ichi Ban Teri Dodds Photography
Matt Allen's shiny new Carkeek 60 Ichi Ban has lived up to her name – number one in Japanese – winning line honours and being declared the overall winner of the Sydney Newcastle Race; the second last race of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia's Ocean Pointscore Series (OPS).
Ichi Ban had an elapsed time of 8hrs, 36 mins and 30 seconds well outside of the race record of 5hrs 26mins 15secs which was set by CYCA member Dick Cawse with Vanguard, with another 60 footer in 2006.
