London Olympians Olivia Price, Nina Curtis and Lucinda Whitty have made it into the top eight at the Womens Match Racing Worlds, in Sweden overnight. After a great result at Sail for Gold in Weymouth, everyone has fingers and toes crossed for another podium placing here.
The Doyen of America's Cup and Olympic journalism Bob Fisher is keeping us all up to date, as only he can ahead of the the AC45 event in Newport. Richard Gladwell is preparing to provide all the interesting details from the July 21st launch of the Emirates Team NZ AC72.
In a months time, The Fish and RG will be part of our team in Weymouth and we will all be sinking the odd pint, along with another Pomme Mark Chisnell and our US Editor David Schmidt and our European Editor Jed Kennedy. Thankfully the beer will be coming out of the Sail-World fridge, so it will be cooler than the usual Brit beer.
The latest ISAF Olympic Class World Ranking Leaders released yesterday has three Aussie crews on top. Men's One Person Dinghy – Laser Tom Slingsby, Men's Two Person Dinghy – 470 Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page and Men's Skiff - 49er Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen
Interesting that there is not a single British world ranking leader on the nine Olympic classes, if anything reflecting that the Pommes have had some up and down results and focused more on sailing in Weymouth rather than the World circuit.
An interesting time ahead!!
