METS 2010, Fairline squashes rumours, Sanctuary Cove ignites interest

As we send this out, thousands of delegates and exhibitors are preparing for the opening day of METS, the world's largest trade exhibition of equipment, materials and systems for the international marine leisure industry organised by Amsterdam RAI and ICOMIA.

METS is definitely on my 'to do' list, and Australian businesses who have attended in year's past deem it an outstanding source of new products and business contacts. Take a look at the coverage from last year's event and you'll see it's expansive, exciting and well worth the round trip to Amsterdam for 2011's show.

This week we also cover events and happenings in Asia, NZ and Australia, with the news of the appointment of Ms Su Thomson to the pivotal role of General Manager Events and Marketing for Sanctuary Cove. The role encompasses Sanctuary Cove's event calendar for the Marine Village, of which Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is one - and an extremely significant one at that.

The countdown is on to SCIBS 2011. The 2011 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show has attracted more than 130 exhibitor applications within two weeks of bookings opening. All exhibitor information and forms now online at

Just in time for our summer, bareboat charter company, Whitsunday Rent A Yacht has launched an online auction site directly targeting holiday makers in a marketing move unique to the bareboat industry. Modelled on the successful formula of eBay, the auction site gives prospective holiday makers the chance to bid on a Whitsundays holiday aboard selected vessels on offer. Read all about it here, or to make a bid and get in early visit

Keep in touch, keep visiting and we will bring you all the global marine news as it happens.
