Sail-World New Zealand: 7 July 2010

2010 RS:X European Windsurfing Championships  Rory Ramsden
Welcome to Sail-World.com's New Zealand newsletter for 7 July 2010

A young New Zealand crew has finished fifth in the 29er Europeans being sailed in Costa Brava, Spain. Unfortunately we don't have a report available for this issue but hope to do so, later today, which will be posted on www.sail-world.com. Similarly with the 49er Europeans in which a New Zealand crew is competing.

The Volvo Youth Worlds get underway in Turkey later this week, in this edition we feature several reports on the buildup, both from ISAF and Yachting NZ.

The America's Cup has wrapped up its East Coast Tour, as we reported in the last newsletter, however we now have several video's of the events which we have compiled into a story in this edition.

There's also several images from La Rochelle, France, of the commissioning of the replica of the former Trans-Atlantic record holder, the schooner Atlantic, which held the mark for 75 years until it was taken by the great Eric Tabarly sailing a foiled trimaran.

Multhulls take centre stage at the New York Yacht Club next month with the International C Class Catamaran Championships - the successor to the Little America's Cup. In this edition we preview the event which will be contested by wingsailed catamarans from USA, Canada and Great Britain.

The next major boat show in New Zealand is the Waikato Boat, Fishing and Leisure Show which is a joint venture between the Marine Industries Association and the Mystery Creek Events Centre. Last year the show attracted a very respectable 13,000 visitors. In this edition we have the preliminary information on the show and how you can make your booking to exhibit. Check out the site www.waikatoboatshow.com
