Dubai underway, Raymarine HybridTouch, marine parks tourism boon
Another news-filled week.
Raymarine's E Series Widescreen with HybridTouch™ has launched in Australia, following a successful rollout in international markets. The E series Hybrid from Raymarine has both a touch screen and a key pad and can switch back and forth between the two seamlessly. Press a button then touch the screen. To stop accidental touch and for usability in rough conditions or rain, the touch screen can be switched off.
It comes in three sizes and is packed with new features and functions: A new anti-collision alarm uses boat dimensions such as draught, height, and beam to safely navigate shallow water and help avoid chart hazards. New Raymarine Radar features configurable by E Series Widescreen include 48rpm high speed scanning and Bird mode – this helps detect and track fish shoals by tracking sea bird movement through the new HD Digital radar scanner. Plus, for the uninitiated, there's a built-in tutorial that leads you through each of the applications.
We will have a thorough review from Rob Kothe in the next few days, but in the mean time, read all about its technical wizardry.
Also this week, news of a 'green' engine from the world's largest ship builder, Hyundai Heavy Industries, a preview of DIBS which starts today, research shows there can be benefits to tourism by declaring marine parks, an informative Q&A with the new CEO of Club Marine, Greg Fisher and how sailors can send practical aid to Haiti, in the form of old sails.
Please visit tomorrow, as we will have a special interview with industry expert, Mike Derett who consults to many of the world's established and emerging boat shows and brands. In Dubai for the Dubai International Boat Show - now considered one of the world's most important events - Mike speaks exclusively with MBW about the real potential in markets such as the Middle East, China and India.
If you're in Auckland for the Boat Show, pop in and visit the Sail-World stand, number 306. Sales manager, Colin Preston has some compelling figures that may persuade you to divert some of your ad budget to the TetraMedia triumvirate.
Meantime, have a great week!
