Welcome to Sail-World.Com's New Zealand newsletter for 20 January 2010.

Bay of Islands Sail Week got underway in Bay of Islands, today, with the Australian entry Limits having a very good first day. We have images and a report on the regatta which has attracted 83 entries.

With just two and a half weeks before the start of the 33rd America's Cup, both teams are now sailing off Valencia.

BMW Oracle Racing have renamed their Challenger 'USA-17', put on the wingsail and went sailing today, with local media and dignitaries along for the ride in a chase boat.

Alinghi 5 sailing off Valencia  Alinghi Team

Alinghi 5 has been sailing for several days now.

In this issue we feature images from the BMW Oracle event, and video from both Alinghi5 and USA-17.

While the team photographers and local Spanish media have been getting ringside seats, as of today, there have still been no arrangements announced for any media, and because of that serious shortcoming, there is considerable uncertainty over the coverage of what is supposed to be the premier event in sailing.

Litigation has been the hallmark of the 33rd Americas Cup, however today was significant in that the International Jury had the first protest poked in its postbox. We have details in this edition. A Hearing is not expected to be held until after the Int Jury has assembled in Valencia after the end of January.
