Welcome Sail-World.Com's USA's newsletter for 14 August 2009

BMW Oracle Racing took centre stage in San Diego,on Wednesday, with the presentation of the America's Cup Challenger and team.

It was a spectacular affair, with all the right people there, and we are pleased to be able to present some of the outstanding images that were shot on the day.

Plus we have the link for a streaming feed courtesy of Hear team boss, Larry Ellison fire from the hip, during question time.

And, of course, the incomparable Gilles Martin-Raget was in attendance to provide his view of the massive trimaran as she was put through her paces in front of the crowd of spectators. It is obvious from the shots taken today that BOR90/USA is an extremely fast boat when all the valves are opened wide, she hits race pace and the whole demeanor of the yacht changes.

In the Rolex Fastnet Race, ICAP leopard has taken line honours, the Farr 80 Beau Geste, finished in second place on the water. Winner of the event was Ran2. We have reports on the finish and aftermath to this classic race.

Just out today is the news from the International Olympic Committee that they have decided not to recommend an 11th medal for Sailing for the 2012 Olympics. We have the reaction of ISAF to this news in this edition.

In the foiling Moth Worlds at Cascade Locks, Oregon, USA's Kevin Hall has successfully made the transition from the big boats and Olympic Finn to the 11ft flyer, and is lying in the top ten overall. We have plenty of reports and images from the racing to date.

Good sailing!
