It's profitable being Green, Boab expands, DIBS opens

It's certainly a Green themed issue this week, with a story about the trend towards all things Eco that is emerging in the US and Europe. There's plenty of money to be made in positioning your product or service as ‘earth-friendly'.

So while banks are crumbling and multinationals are laying off staff, every key player—from the Obama administration

to the Chinese government—plans to dominate the post-recession economy by going sustainable, including a heavy dose of rules and regulations. Recession or not, consumers will continue to demand responsible behavior from brands. Reuters recently reported that: “Four out of five people say they are still buying green products and services today--which sometimes cost more--even in the midst of a US recession.”

Among the eco-conscious are many marine brands, including Australia's own Solar Sailor, celebrating success around the world with orders from China and the US.

There are plenty joining the bandwagon too, with hybrid boats a growing trend. While innovative and luxuriously decked out, its price of $600,000 means the DSe Hybrid featured this week will not appeal to a mass market.

We also have an update on the Korea International Boat Show, Dubai which is on this week, and back home, insight into the major benefits of franchising, specifically the example of Boab Boat Hire which is enjoying record growth.
