Marine Business Editorial

Welcome to another week of news and views from around the marine world. We have the early rundown of METS, which although the event experienced a fall in numbers, was as popular as ever with exhibitors, who have reported strong trade.

AIMEX CEO, Mary-Anne Edwards was there with a contingent of Australia businesses, all of whom enjoyed the atmosphere and attention of visitors to the world's most significant marine trade show. She sent her impressions back from METS and the news is all good – Aussie products are well regarded and in high demand.

There's an update on piracy in the Pacific and off the coast of Africa, news of Maritimo's plan to invest $10m in R&D over the next financial year to support the launch of as many as seven new models, as well as a tribute to Ronstan, winners of a DAME at this year's METS for deckhardware. We also have a feature on three decades of building a business by the pioneers of bareboat charter, Whitsunday Rent a Yacht.

Congratulations are in order for Andrew Short Marine, Sea Ray's 1 dealer in Australia/Asia for an amazing fourth time in five years.

Take a look and keep visiting as we update each and every day.

Keep your story ideas coming in – they are appreciated.
