Editorial, July 29, '08

Fair to say this week that the priority for the Powerboat-World team is the move south to Darling Harbour and the 41st Sydney International Boat Show.

We'll be on site to bring you all the news next week and let's hope that news involves a healthy attendance and strong boat sales.

Of course, weather always plays a role and we take a light-hearted look at Mother Nature as well as a look back in time to when life was, well, somewhat slower.

For powerboat fans, though, the big story of the week is right here – Class 1 offshore racing is on the cusp of a new era.

My good mate Jeni Bone also has an interesting chat with an interesting fellow, Maritimo's world circling sales and marketing manager Peter Jenkins.

A last word on the Sydney Show – some good advice for Sydney Harbour boaters to steer clear of the entrance to Darling Harbour for the next 72-hours or so – nearly 300 vessels of all shapes and sizes will be heading in to the Cockle Bay Marina.

If you're into boats, the Sydney International, from Thursday through to Tuesday, is the only place to be, just as is the place to find all the news related to power boating around the world.

If you see an old bloke wandering around, heavily rugged up against the vicious Sydney winter, come up and say hello.
