Boaters alerted as Cudgen Creek hosts swim leg of triathlon event
|
The Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is alerting boaters to avoid navigating an area in Cudgen Creek for the staging of the swim leg of a triathlon competition on Sunday. Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of a triathlon swim leg in Cudgen Creek on Sunday. Maritime North Coast Regional Manager James Green said boaters should keep clear of the creek between Jack Julius Park downstream to the Faulks Park boat ramp from 6am to 10am. 'This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of a QMSPORTS triathlon swim,' Mr Green said. 'The area will be marked by buoys. 'For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by club and control vessels.' Mr Green said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
