Saturday's SSANZ Safety at Sea NZ Spars and Rigging 60, for two-handed crews, was sailed largely without incident, in moderate southerly breezes and cold temperatures. The fleet started in a 15kts SE breeze, gusting to 20kts, as they passed Passage Rock at the bottom end of Waiheke the wind swung South, staying at the same strength, but easing later in the afternoon. ...[more]

Rigging expert, Richard 'Bart' Bearda (NZ Rigging) will be giving a presentation tonight April 10, 2014 at Royal Akarana Yacht Club.

KZ-1, the Big Boat of the 1988 America's Cup fame is now on permanent display outside the Maritime Museum, and forms the predominant landmark on the Auckland waterfront. 18 years had lapsed, since the 1988 America's Cup Challenger had her rig checked fully, and the Maritime Museum turned to NZ Rigging to undertake the tricky task. An excellent weekend racing at Tamaki Yacht Club has just concluded for the 2012 Mistral Class Championship.
The sun came out on both Saturday and Sunday and the wind was enough to add a little excitement.

Ross and Campbell Field victory on Leg 1 of the Global Ocean Race has been attributed in part to spars and systems from New Zealand Spars and Rigging. Ross Field wanted to work with new companies when he embarked on his campaign to race two handed around the world in a 40ft boat, and he elected to team up with New Zealand Spars and Rigging, when it came to readying BSL for the mammoth voyage. ...[more]

A new Bakewell-White 36, General Lee, has i8s due to be launched at Westhaven tomorrow.
Designed for offshore racing, and Cat 1, she is owned by two West Australian sailors, Paul Eldrid, who runs Evolution Sails in Perth, and Scott Disley. General Lee has spars and rigging from NZ Rigging. ...[more]
