America's Cup: Artemis damage revealed on haulout

Sail-World has obtained images of Artemis Racing's damaged AC72 as it was hauled from San Francisco Bay at Alameda.
The images show the main beam broken at about mid-way to the port hull. It is not known if this broke before, during, or after the capsize. Or indeed, if some other part failed before the main beam fractured. ...[more]

This weekend (May 25-26) sees the first event of the 2013 Elliott 5.9 Traveler Series at Opua.
The largest fleet for several years is expected with at least 15 boats and possibly up to 17. In what is a positive sign, the fleet has had to arrange for an extra shared tow line for 2013 in response to the growth in the class for the 2013 series. ...[more]

On Saturday morning the Luna Rossa AC72 sailed for the first time in San Francisco in the bay where the Louis Vuitton Cup and America’s Cup regattas will take place starting July 7th.

Recently a young Kiwi team headed over to Japan for the annual three day youth regatta – the International Friendship All Japan Junior Yacht Club Regatta 2013 from the third – fifth of May. America's Cup organisers, Golden Gate Yacht Club, have appointed a six-strong team to investigate and report on the facts of the Artemis incident, last Thursday, and to recommend on safety issues for the event.
