A significant milestone in the 34th America's Cup occurred today on the Hauraki Gulf when two AC45's being sailed by crews from Oracle Racing lined up for a two boat practice session. It is the first time that two AC45's have lined up against each other.

Emirates Team New Zealand launched an AC45 catamaran at Auckland's Viaduct harbour this morning, in conjunction with several other AC45's - all are expected to be sailing today. Oracle Racing team became the first America's Cup squad to sail its own AC45 when it went for a short shakedown sail in Auckland on Monday afternoon. For the first time out, the team was on the water for about 90 minutes, checking systems and ensuring everything on the newly branded AC45 was 'shipshape'. Heart of America were one of the character challengers in the 1987 America's Cup, they were headed up by the incredibly successful, hugely respected and universally admired, Buddy Melges all the way from Zenda, Wisconsin.
