Tony Kendall, original owner and helmsman of Sunlight for 35 years won the 2009 Townson 32 Altex Marine Paints/Burnsco Class Championships in a 6 race series off the Tamaki River entrance over last weekend.

Taylor Burn (Queen Charlotte) has won the 2009 Toyota Optimist National Championships, without winning a race. He won by a margin of eight points over Naomi Mannering (Napier) with Erica Dawson (Murrays Bay) in third. Day One of the 2009 Toyota Optimist National Championships featured some great results by the team from Singapore. In race 2 they made a clean sweep coming in first second and third. They all say they like Wellington but it is just a little bit too cold.

The new Reichel-Pugh design Vela Veloce (Richard Oland) , the newest yacht in the fleet was the first monohull home in the 2009 International Paints Auckland Tauranga race. Sundreamer (Phil Hart) was second multihull and third finisher at 2210hrs. The vintage David Barker design finished well outside her race record of just under ten hours. ...[more]
