A team of four 420's has made the trip across to Fremantle for the Australian 420 Nationals, a six day regatta, 29th Dec - 3rd Jan and then the Australian Youth Championship a five day regatta running from Jan 6th to Jan 10th. Most of the sailors arrived before Christmas and spent a few days setting their boats up and getting some time on the water getting into the swing of things in Fremantle. ...[more]

Inclement weather has brought the pre-Christmas series to a close, with 7 of 8 scheduled flights raced. However, the results show that victory for Valsheda II (950) was a virtual certainty, notwithstanding the early bath. 2015 Auckland to Wellington Race - Royal Akarana Yacht Club in conjunction with Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club are considering hosting the 2015 Auckland to Wellington Race. There is a gap in the larger offshore racing calendar in 2015, with RAYC choosing to have a year off from international racing. ANZ Sail Fiji will return in 2016. ...[more]

High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) has announced that Yachting New Zealand’s High Performance Programme will receive a financial boost in the two years leading into the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Last weekend Weta owners gathered at the Tauranga YPBC for an action packed weekend.The wind was perfect for the Friday coaching blowing out the cobwebs with a 25 knot westerly.
Justina and Josh helped get them around the track getting the basics more or less sorted. The tide was the real winner sending Terry and Isabel up the harbour...Inverted...far away from familiar landmarks. ...[more]

Despite a late start - due to technical issues with the crane - the fine weather allowed for three very close races across a fast ebbing tide.
