The Volvo Ocean Race hunt for Onboard Reporters for the upcoming edition in 2014-15 has been given a resounding response, with over 1,500 applications received by organisers in less than ten weeks. The first Volvo Ocean 65 hull, the Volvo truck towing it, its driver and three attendees have been on the road for five days now. They left the Persico factory in Bergamo, Italy, this past Friday. The Volvo Ocean 65 project will achieve a major milestone in the next few days as the first hull and deck leave their sheds at Persico and Multiplast to be assembled in the UK at Green Marine. Hull number one is being packed up and loaded onto a trailer at Persico in Italy. Later in the week, it will be towed by a Volvo truck from Bergamo to England's south coast. ...[more]

Volvo Ocean Race has announced that Lisbon, Portugal, will host a stopover in the race in each of the next two editions.
Lisbon was also a stopover for the 2011-12 Volvo Ocean Race.

Emirates Team New Zealand are just a few days into testing their new AC72 - and certainly seem to be putting the 72ft foiling catamaran cat through her paces. New Zealand-based Southern Spars will supply the complete rig package – mast, boom and rigging – for the One Design Volvo Ocean 65 that will contest the next two editions of the Volvo Ocean Race.
