Big fish continue to be pulled out of Lake Crescent. Also this week is the opening of Rainbow waters which will provide more options for anglers.
Tuna are still being caught down south and we also feature some new gear in this report.
Freshwater
With Rainbow Trout designated waters due to open on the 1/10/22 some new waters will be available to fish that have been closed for some time.
Dee Lagoon:
The last few early seasons on Dee has been worth a look, although Dee holds a reputation for tough fishing the last few years
Atlantic Salmon:
With reports slowing the salmon have been a hard fish to track down over the last few weeks.
A few anglers have been getting onto the odd fish in the Sothern Rivers and Streams.
Lake Crescent:
A lot of anglers are finding it hit or miss depending on the day. Some anglers are reporting catching good numbers and size then the next day struggling. The Shimano Bantam BT Bait Lure in Gold Shad has been very deadly and a popular fly choice has been the Krystal Bugger Olive stripped super slowly. Most of the fish have been caught hard on the edges chasing Golden Galaxias
Bronte Lagoon:
With water levels up and down the lake has not been a reliable option for many. For the anglers that are putting in the time it has been producing some very nice fish. Trolling and drift spinning has been the popular choice.
Arthurs Lake:
The Cow Paddock and Seven Pond Bay have been fishing very well, few reports of stonefly hatches and fish rising. The fish in Arthurs have been small but in healthy condition.
Salt Water
Australian Salmon:
The rivers seem to be holding large numbers of small Aussie salmon at the moment with the odd larger one mixed in.
Bream:
The Bream have been well spread in both the Derwent and Huon, this time of year you start to see the fishing schooling and heading up river to spawn.
Flathead:
A few Flathead have been caught around Norfolk Bay and Marion Bay. The next few weeks should see catch rates improve.
Tuna:
Good Numbers of Bluefin Tuna are being reported South around Pedra. One angler reported losing a large fish after a fairly long fight last week.
Calamari:
Reasonable numbers of calamari are being caught throughout the Channel area.
