The eighth edition of the Solaris Days and Solaris Cup, this year combined with the CNB Rendez-Vous, came to a successful conclusion in Porto Rotondo. CNB is the French shipyard specialized in the construction of bluewater yachts which now belongs to the Solaris Group.

It has been a real "sailing festival" with more than 1000 sailors in the beautiful setting of Porto Rotondo, Costa Smeralda. The Solaris Cup confirmed once more to be an unparalleled event where owners and enthusiasts competed in a gentleman's race. A unique opportunity to see the yachts built by Solaris throughout 50 years.

Many owners have embarked on long journeys to be in Porto Rotondo. This proves once again that Solaris and CNB owners are really passionate sailors.

The event has been organized by the Solaris Group with the support of the main partners IWC, B&G, Iren, UniCredit and in collaboration with the Yacht Club Porto Rotondo and the Marina di Porto Rotondo.

The highlight of the event was the "Solaris Cup 2022": two days of regattas on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th of June. 60 boats from 12 to 25 mt, led by international owners and sailors, competed in the beautiful waters of Costa Smeralda.

Two exciting costal races organized by Yacht Club Porto Rotondo, characterized by favourable weather conditions and fresh winds that could enhance the technical qualities of the boats and the ability of the various crew to interpret, react and adapt to them.

Unica, the Malta-based Solaris 42 owned by Jamie Sammut, won for the fourth time the overall 1st prize of the Cup.

The second spot of the podium was taken by Paola 3, the Solaris 50 with Stefano Pozzi at the helm, followed by Mistral Gagnant, owned by Marco Ferrero, winner of the last edition of the Cup.

Sona, owned by Ronan Harris, won the CNB Rendez-Vous ranking, followed by Nina, owned by Milan Marcovic. The third spot of the podium was taken by Zampa of Jacques le Barazer De Kermouan.

The overall winners of Solaris Cup and CNB Rendez-Vous won two precious prizes, respectively an IWC Portugieser chronograph watch, special edition Solaris, and a sophisticated IWC Weather Station.

New of this season is the "IWC Challenge" trophy, created by the Swiss watch manufacture, awarded to the fastest boats of the two races: first place for Cefea, followed by Paola 3 and Mistral Gagnant.

Special prizes were also dedicated to the Youngest Crew, the one aboard the Solaris 44 Mandalay owned by Bjorn and Tina Ambos, with the two boys aged 13 and 11 at the helm, to the Loyalest Crew, awarded to Thomas Dietrich's Anka 4 which took part to all the editions of the Solaris Cup, and to the Pickiest Crew, assigned to Paola 3.

All the three winners received a 1 year membership card of the Yacht Club Porto Rotondo.

Excellent results were achieved by the new projects Barbablu, the brand new Solaris 40 owned by Alfredo Barbaro, NakaOne, the 50 feet owned by Paolo Oligeri - who won the 4th and the 7th place in the ranking of compensated times, respectively - and the Solaris 60 Isabella owned by Frank Leemhuis.

The atmosphere in the quay has been engaging, thanks to a rich program of side activities that entertained owners, crews and guests in these days of pure sport and fun.

"We are very satisfied with the result of the event and with the enthusiastic response from both owners and crews. I want to thank the Race Committee for the great job they have done to give to all participants the opportunities to compete at their best - declares Federico Gambini, President of Solaris Yachts, who adds - and the support of all the sponsors has been fundamental. Without any of them we could not have achieved these results."
