Noble Marine / Sailingfast ILCA 4 Qualifier 3 at the WPNSA

Sunshine, wind and sailors called Fred

Saturday dawned bright and breezy, perfect conditions for the 65 ILCA 4 sailors ready for two days of fun on the water.

167 sailors from three rigs launched into fantastic conditions and soon after the racing was under way. A great course was set by the RO, Paul Jackson, and all the sailors lined up on the start line.

Race one saw Robin Phipps finish in pole position, with Noah Evans following on closely behind in second and Fred Salter finishing third.

Race two once again saw Fred Salter in the leading pack, finishing first he was followed across the line by Freddie MacLaverty, with Freddie Sunderland taking third place.

Race three saw a win for Freddie Sunderland, second place for Noah Evans and a third for Ollie Freemantle.

An early start on Sunday brought a little more wind but the sunshine remained. Fluky conditions and a general recall in race 4 made it a challenge for all. Tom Thwaites won the first race of the day, with Harry West closely following in second and Max Steele finishing third.

Race five saw a win for Freddie MacLaverty and a further second for Noah Evans, with Max Steele once again in third.

With four points between the top four sailors at the finish of race five, race six was guaranteed to be an exciting conclusion to the event. Race six provided a second win of the event for Fred Salter leaving him in pole position. Henry Keegan came in second, with Edwin Cross in third in the final race of the day.

Fred Salter was the overall winner, with Freddie Sunderland taking second and Freddie MacLaverty in third. First girl was Kaitlyn Wyatt.

The ILCA4 fleet would like to thank WPSNA for once again putting on a great event and all the volunteers for making it possible. And a special thank you to the Race officer and team.
