Haven Knox-Johnston raise £1000 for WWF as 1400 clients go paper free

Over 1,400 direct insurance clients and all intermediaries have swapped from paper to paperless insurance in 2021, helping the Haven Knox-Johnston (Haven K-J) crew achieve their goal to raise £1,000 for WWF and adopt an Emperor Penguin.

It was estimated that around 250,000 pieces of printed material were being posted out annually at the beginning of the year and the move to paperless insurance will reduce this enormously. It also means easy to find digital documents rather than clients playing hide and seek with paper ones.

The penguin has been Haven K-J's much-loved mascot since the 1990s and, as such, the opportunity to raise funds to help protect their rapidly declining wild habitat was jumped on enthusiastically by the entire crew. Emperor Penguin populations have declined by up to 50% in some places and one colony off the Antarctic Peninsula has disappeared completely (source: WWF). Climate change is the biggest threat to them right now due to changes in the sea ice they depend on.

Paul Knox-Johnston, Sales & Marketing Manager at Haven K-J, said, "It's fantastic that the crew and many clients got behind our drive to go paper-free. There is still much work to be done, but we are delighted to have reached our first goal, raising £1,000 for WWF and adopting a penguin. I look forward to stepping it up and challenging ourselves further in 2022 so that we can continue to reduce the impact our business has on the environment."

Haven K-J will be continuing efforts to reduce their environmental impact and improve sustainability across all business activities into 2022. The crew will be sharing updates on sustainability progress and news about their adopted penguin, so visit the website and follow them on social media to see how they get on.

If you have any suggestions about how Haven K-J can "Go greener" in 2022, don't be shy and let them know! The crew are always on hand to listen to your ideas, or even help with your boat insurance needs! Drop them an email at .
