'Savaadheeththa Dhathuru' is a sailing event organized by the Maldives Integrated Tourism Corporation (MITDC) inviting sailors from all across the globe to participate in a journey across the Maldives seas, making stops at local islands, exploring the heritage, experiencing famous dive sites, sandbanks etc. The journey begins on February 2022 starting from the most northern atoll of the country, Haa Alif Atoll, taking a course of 3 weeks to reach Baa Atoll. It is designed to visit a total of 15 islands.

"Savaadheeththa Dhathuru"- coined as a tribute to one of the greatest heroes in Maldives history, Mohamed Thakurufaanu, Savaadheeththa Mahaaradhun, is the fruition of MITDCs efforts to introduce Heritage Tourism to the country's blooming tourism industry. The journey is devised to visit protected heritage sites, experience the island lifestyle & to witness untouched natural beauty of the country. Through these efforts MITDC intend to promote Sail Tourism and exploit the benefits to strengthen the position we hold as the best destination in world tourism.

Organizers emphasized on the importance of bringing diversification to the Maldives Tourism Industry and the importance of promoting Community-Based Tourism in local islands. They believe the significance of sail tourism of an archipelago such as Maldives is the best way to explore the real Maldives and such a rally would attract a lot of exposure to the cultural component in the country's Tourism Industry.

Participation for Savaadheeththa Dhathuru yacht rally is now open for sailors from all across the globe to partake in the first ever yacht rally across the Maldives islands.
