From sailing novices to full-time cruisers, Adam, Lauren and their dog Freddy share their experiences of getting into sailing.

"When I bought my first boat it was up on the hard. I bought it from a brokerage and it might sound crazy, but I didn't actually get a proper survey done."

Meet Southampton born Adam Brown (32), Lauren Williams (30) and Freddy. Adam is a Mechanical Fitter and Fabricator by trade, Lauren is a nurse and Freddy, well, Freddy is their four-legged Jack Russell Cross!

Over the coming weeks, savvy navvy will be featuring the podcast series, The Boating Life, where we follow the journey of Adam, Lauren and Freddy as they go from complete novice sailors to buying their first boat, quitting their jobs and setting sail with the aim of becoming full-time cruisers.

Adam and Lauren will share their highs and lows, the silly mistakes and the adventurous wins. We hope these stories will help educate other people looking to get into sailing for the first time, perhaps those buying their first boat or considering sailing into the horizon with their dog for good.
