Competitors only got the rear view of France's Axel Mazella who scored four straight bullets on the second day of the qualifying series.

Mazella's closest opponent, fellow countryman Theo de Ramecourt had a more mixed day, scoring an UFD (for starting early) in the day's last race. Mazella so far has scored an impressive streak of seven race wins and one second place, making him the clear favourite for the 2020 European title.

De Ramecourt now sits two points behind at eight points, closely followed by another Frenchmen Maxime Nocher on eleven points, making it currently a purely French podium.

Toni Vodisek from Slovenia had a better day climbing into fourth position, on equal 13 points with defending World Champion Nico Palier from France.

In the women's fleet, Polish teenagers Julia Damasiewicz and Magdalena Woyciechowska continued their domination from day one and are on straight course to qualify directly to the Medal Series on Sunday, while second to 14th-ranked competitors need to go through a series of Semi-Final races before the final face-off.

Woychiechowska had a day where she discarded two of her results after a low sixth in race eight, as well as finishing third in race five. Later the young polish was penalized after a protest by the Technical Committee but was still able to maintain her second place.

Leading Damasiewicz only added one more win today, but her consistency is rewarded with a nine point lead over second ranked Woychiechowska.

All four women's races on day two were won by separate competitors, demonstrating how close the competition is in the women's fleet.

Germany's Leonie Meyer who suffered an injury from a cut of her foil in race two on the first day moved up to third place with a number of consistent top places, winning the last race of the day.

Meyer now has 23 points, five points behind second placed Woychechowska.

The men's fleet is now split into Gold and Silver groups, with the top 33 competiting in one fleet for the remaining two days of the opening series. The women continue their single fleet opening series until Saturday.

Competition continues through to Sunday 23 August, when the top 14 men and women will compete in the Semi-Finals and Finals of the Medal series.
