Innovative education charity, The 1851 Trust is a charity that Spinlock has chosen to support, and during Cowes Week a display highlighting its work is on show in one of the large windows at Spinlock's head office on Birmingham Road.

The Trust, whose patron is HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, runs an impressive range of exciting activities to inspire young people about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) through sailing, encouraging them to consider maritime careers. Spinlock is an active supporter, helping young people on the water and in the education programmes.

Spinlock were involved earlier this year in supporting the Trust's Next Generation Roadshow for Girls. Female representatives from Spinlock, along with those from BAE and Airbus, ran group sessions for girls from state schools in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and Sussex to help them find out about the range of interesting jobs and careers that are achievable through studying STEM subjects.

Spinlock's Sales & Marketing Manager, James Hall, said, "The Trust is equipping young people with the skills to take on Maritime Careers through their inspiring programmes.

"During Cowes Week, the world's best-known sailing regatta, we are delighted and proud to highlight its remarkable work to young people within our community and those visiting from around the world."

Rebecca Denny, Development Manager at the 1851 Trust, added "Our model of combining sport and science has proved effective in inspiring thousands of young people across the UK. Our education and sailing programmes are designed to both challenge young people to excel and to inspire them for the future. Thank you to Spinlock for their on-going support."
