Entries are now open for the 2018 Hamble Winter Series. This year will be the 37th running of this popular, competitive and fun event, based in the central Solent and organised by the Hamble River Sailing Club.

The main series for IRC Yachts, comprises of eight Sundays from the 7th October to the 2nd December with a gap weekend on the 3rd & 4th November. The first four weeks of the series will have two races per day. Then, after the break weekend, the entertainment continues with one race per day for those brave souls racing through to December.

Once again this year the IRC Autumn Championship will be integrated into the first weekend of the series, the 6th & 7th October. Yachts entering the full main winter series will get the Saturday of the IRC Autumn Championship free. Also, joining the fray for the first weekend will be the recently formed Performance 40 Class. This will be the final event of their series and will attract double points.

The Hamble Big Boat Championship returns this year and runs for the first three Sundays of the main series, 7th, 14th & 21st October. Yachts entering the whole Hamble Big Boat Championship will also get the IRC Autumn Championship, including the Saturday free.

The final piece of the HWS Jigsaw is the Hamble One Design Championship, which will take place over two weekends 13th & 14th October and the 20th & 21st October. Racing is for J70, J80 and SB20 fleets and any other OD Class that can muster eight starters. The One Designs will cram twelve races into the two weekends.

Making sense of this crowded programme will be PRO Kathy Smalley and the experienced HRSC team at her disposal. The series still attracts in the region of 150 entries every year, and is supported by a number of Day Sponsors who provide weekly prizes for the post-race experience at the club.
