As your new Managing Director here at CYOA, I want to reassure you that, despite evidence to the contrary in the form of serial snow storms, the sailing season really isn't far away!

And 2018 is shaping up to be a great season for classic yachting in New England. Along with our old favourites, we have a couple of new events on the schedule with the addition of an event on Block Island in June and a feeder race from Newport to Bristol the day before the Herreshoff Classic Yacht Regatta.

We also have a few new members of CYOA! These include existing owners who've seen the light and joined up, as well as owners new to the classic yachting game - and we welcome both with equal enthusiasm!

In addition to fun racing and great camaraderie, we're planning to host a few parties along the way, and we'll keep you posted when we figure out when and where they'll be. We're planning to kick the New England season off with one in early June (more to come on that), and we're co-hosting a reception at Boom! in English Harbor at the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta on April 21st.

While I've always hoped to get through life without ever having a conversation with anyone about a yacht's rating, I can report that the CRF folks have been working hard on refining the CRF MkII rule. The 2018 version is ready to go, and if you're planning to sail in a classic yacht regatta this season in New England, you'll need to get an updated rating at classicratingformula.com. The good news is that it's free for members of CYOA.

Lastly, I'm hoping you will all take a few minutes to complete this five question survey about which events you are considering for the coming season. Just tick the boxes for the events you're thinking about and we'll publish the results down the line. This will be enormously helpful for our hard-working event OAs, and it shouldn't take you more than two minutes.

I look forward to seeing you all this season. In the meantime, please don't hesitate to shoot us an email at if there's anything we can do for you.
