The RS Tera North Squad began their 2016 coaching sessions with a fantastic turnout at Ripon Sailing Club. This year the squad has grown to nearly 30 strong so the coaching team has been expanded and this weekend Georgie McKenzie was on hand to put the fleet through their paces together with regular coaches Brett, Bernard, Graeme and Julie. Next month Katy Phillips, another coach who has an excellent racing pedigree, will join the coaching team for the 4th of the 5 winter sessions.

The focus for the weekend was on starting, and with some tricky exercises testing the more experienced helms the younger helms were getting to grips with being on the line and holding position. Lots of fun was had, and the video debriefing at the end of the day showed just how much the whole fleet improved over each day. The demand for this level of high class coaching in the region shows just how much interest there is in the class 'in the north' and we look forward to a great season on the water.

The North circuit kicks off at Bassenthwaite SC for the Northern Championships, to be sailed over the early May Bank Holiday weekend and we expect to achieve a 30+ fleet to really get the 2016 season on the road.
