Carnac. It's a wonderful place

The standing stones, the beaches, the breeze, the sea, the sailing club, the hospitality, the wine, the seafood, the accordion players... It really is all true.

The RS200 fleet are currently on tour, as part of the RS circus at the RS Eurocup at Carnac Yacht Club, Brittany, sponsored by Crewsaver. The sun is shining, the wind is really quite punchy, and yes, the wine and food is excellent.

After two days of fabulous sailing, and some wonderful hospitality from our french hosts, Ian and Chloe Martin are currently leading by a gnats whisker from the ever so consistent Chris Catt and Ally Martin.

Day 1 was pretty frisky; An off shore breeze complete with white caps and some really quite big shifts provided the 200s with some excellent racing throughout the fleet. The majority stayed upright but quite a few (including some big names) fell foul of the occasional gybe or dropped mainsheet - you know who you are! The day ended with Ian Sharps and Ellie Martin at the top of the leader board.

Day 2 still had its fruity moments but was generally lighter, light enough even to open the competition right up, allowing even the odd roll tack and a heady mix of soaking and planing downwind. Three races were completed and a discard included allowing the formidable team of Ian and Chloe Martin to climb to the top of the pile.

However the results don't quite tell the full story. Jonny McGovern and Sarah Williams have been on fire, but somehow never seem to get lucky last. Ali Young and Kat Colvin are making rapid progress, whilst Chris Webber and Al Morley really showed us all how to hike.

Fingers crossed the rest of the week stays as much fun.

Results after Day 3: (eight races, 2 discards)
