The third weekend of Saltash Sailing Club's Spring series was a light wind affair that took the IRC and PY yachts on a course circling the breakwater.
With such a fickle and shifting breeze, the wind angle on the final legs changed given the on the water leaders a huge advantage over the tail enders. So it was no surprise that the IRC class was dominated by Nigel Passmore's Apollo with a win that secured the overall series victory with one race remaining. Neville Devonport's Musk-Ox finished second with Steve Hills on Extreme completing the top three.
The PY class also saw one boat dominate to take a nine minute win with Rob Davis on Imarra. This left a three way battle for second with these boat seperated by just 30 seconds it was Gerry Smith on Scattered Magic that took second from Toby Short on Vindaloo.
The J24s raced close to the Hoe shoreline The first race was won by David Cooper on St James, but it was Nick Mcdonald who scored a second followed up with a first in race two to close up on his brother Stig at the top of the leaderboard.
