82 yachts have entered the 2012 Rolex Sydney Hobart, a smaller fleet than last year but an interesting mix. We will be covering this event in detail as always.
Entries opened yesterday for the 2013 Festival of Sails and within minutes Paul Lindemann’s Victorian Beneteau 50, Biddy Hu II, was declared the first official entry for Australia’s largest keelboat regatta. Hot on Lindemann’s heels once entries opened were another two Victorians, Brian Barnes’ Bavaria Match 42, Barnstormer (SYC), and RGYC club mate, Malcolm Eaton with his Sydney 39CR, Celeste. www.festivalofsails.com

The Notice of Race for the 35th Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship is now online and past Middle Harbour Yacht Club Commodore Ian Box is among the first entries received. The event is set to take place 24th-25th November 2012.

Will be interesting too to see how the entries flow for the 2013 Pittwater Coffs Harbour regatta, which has an innovative early entry prize draw.

We expect to see plenty of action on the water this weekend with the perennial favourites the 18ft Skiffs AEG 3-Buoys Challenge fourth race, which marks the series halfway point, gets underway this Sunday on Sydney Harbour and the Paper Tigers enjoying a comeback.
