It's another new cruising catamaran. Fountaine Pajot's latest offering to the market is the Hélia 44, replacing the Orana 44. She is new for 2013, a catamaran designed for cruisers, with particular attention to short-handed cruising. Designed by Berret Racoupeau, she has elegant and contemporary lines, with four comfortable cabins.
 | Helia 44 - .. . | This means the owner can either have a big family or lots of visiting friends. Alternatively it could be well used by several families who make the purchase together and share the boat. There is also the option to have one master suite, double the size, and two guest cabins in the opposing hull.
 | Helia 44 plan - .. . | The term 'below decks' is a bit of a misnomer, as there are no steps between the deck and the living space. The helm station and lounge deck are innovative and stylish, and the cruising skipper will just love the fact that all the controls come back to the cockpit. | Helia-44 saloon and galley - .. . | She has a very good sail to weight ratio, and the construction is of resin, infused/injected. The bridge deck design allows for a very low boom compared with similar boats, and this makes it easy to tuck in a reef or get a tangle sorted out.
 | Helia 44 deck lounge - .. . | She is not primarily meant for charter, more as a comfortable long range cruiser. Specifications: Length: 43.5ft Beam: 24.3ft Draft 3.8ft Displacement unloaded: 10.8T Main sail area: 753.5sq ft Genoa area: 484.4 sq ft Water tank capacity: 2 x 375litres Diesel tank capacity: 470 litres Standard engines: 2 x 40CV Diesel/hp Cabins: Four doubles, with four bathrooms (or other versions are possible - The yacht will first be on show at the US Sailboat Show in Annapolis this year. This is the 20th consecutive year in which Fountaine Pajot Catamarans, established in 1976, has exhibited at this show. To see the yacht in action, watch the video below: <: embed_code :>
