Sydney Harbour Regatta - New divison winner after protest upheld |
 |
The Sydney Harbour Regatta now has a new Division B winner. Following a protracted protest late in the event, local entry, Exile, Rob Reynold’s DK 46, has displaced the Queensland entry, Lambourdini/Envy Scooters of David Lambourne and Barry Cuneo as the Division B winner. The Queenslanders, who were in town to contest the Farr 40 Nationals were obviously disappointed, but took it in their stride. They are now heading back to Queensland to contest the Brisbane Gladstone Race. The protest involved Exile, which represents the host club, and Paul Clitheroe’s Beneteau 45, Balance (CYCA) in Race 3. The protest was over incident on the start line. At the end, the protest had the effect of moving Exile up the board from fifth overall into first place and dropping the Lambourdini/Envy Scooters into second place overall with Just a Dash third. Commenting on their change of fortunes, Exile’s owner, Rob Reynolds, said: 'It could have gone either way, with one point separating five boats. It was a great regatta and obviously we’re very happy with our result.' Event website
