Ainslie back infront and all the latest sailing news

Welcome to this week's edition of our UK Sail-World.com newsletter.

The third event of the ISAF Sailing World Cup, the 42nd Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mapfre regatta is underway in Palma, Spain. Day one was a big breeze day and Finn sailor Giles Scott enjoyed the conditions beating out his rivals Ben Ainslie and Ed Wright. But on day two Ainslie turned the tables and leads the Finn racing.

Jean-Pierre Dick and Loick Peyron onboard Virbac-Paprec 3 have completed the Barcelona World Race as have Iker Martinez and Xabi Fernandez onboard Mapfre. Dee Caffari and Anna Corbella are into their last week of sailing as the finish line approaches.

72 hours of drama for the Velux 5 Oceans solo sailors, with Polish skipper Zbigniew ‘Gutek’ Gutkowski fearing he may have broken ribs. Chris Stanmore-Major (CSM) is struggling a little as he chose to only take 20 litres of water in his tanks, then discovered his water maker was broken.

There is local sailing news from the Warsash Spring Series, from the Lark Open at Frensham Pond, the RS VAreo meeting, Musto Skiffs and more.
