2008 OAMPS Insurance Brokers ACT Youth Champs

The 2008 ACT Youth Sailing Championships were conducted by the Canberra Yacht Club on Saturday the 8th of November. The series was run over a four race back-to-back series with all races to count. 43 boats entered the series and were split over two divisions. The range of boats: Spirals, Radial Lasers, Optimists, Corsairs and Toppers made for great viewing from the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. This was one of the biggest youth championships held in Canberra for many years. The four races were held in very challenging conditions, with heat 4 having gusts of 25 knots. Consistency and finishing the races was the recipe to succeeding at this year’s championships. Most competitors took a swim at some stage in the testing conditions.
