Brewin poised in A Catamaran Worlds

Eight Australians are contesting the A Cat Worlds in Sanguinet in the Bordeaux region of France, with Steve Brewin currently placed second overall.

Although five races have been sailed, the scheduled race drop, as per the Notice of Race, which would give Brewin a three-point lead, having won three out of five races, has not be brought into play as yet. His discard will be a 17th place in race four.

According to the event web page, Pete Melvin (USA) leads with 18 points from Brewin who has 24. Scott Anderson (AUS) is currently third, with the remaining Aussies looking in good shape.

Andrew Landenberger, former Olympic crew to expatriate Aussie, Mitch Booth, is in 14th place with mixed results including a win in race five. Sometime Darren Bundock crew, Glenn Ashby is 16th in the 100-strong event.

According to the Notice of Race, ‘nine races are scheduled, with five to constitute a valid Championship. If five valid races have been sailed, there will be one discard. If seven valid races have been sailed, there will be two discards.’

Racing continues through to today, French time.
