Well finally some reprieve in the weather throughout Victoria and with the AFL footy season coming to an end, anglers are now looking forward to hitting the water in search of snapper for yet another season.
Fathers Day has now passed and with the sun shining and the winds low, many anglers have been out and about already these past few days. Some solid snapper have already been caught and it is good to see those keen to wet a line are getting the results.
Around the country it seems that this is much the same state to state. Whether you’re in the NT targeting pelagics offshore or lurking around the shoreline in SA, something is happy to devour your offerings.
While the fishing is picking up in a big way, the AFTA show was held last week and what a hit it was for distributors and manufactures. Over the past few weeks I have been giving you a small taste of some of the newer items that will be available very soon and with much more to tempt you with, here is a few more.

That aside, one of most favourite lures, the Zerek Shrimp has had its range increased with the release of the Zerek Cherabin.
The Live Cherabin is a new model based on the already successful live Shrimp which was designed for straight retrieves very close to the bottom in the strike zone.
The live Cherabin is constructed using special rubber material featuring soft vibrating legs and feelers. The flexible abdomen performs like a live shrimp when twitched and retrieved. Twitching will impersonate a real live fleeing shrimp, pause and it will sink to the bottom. Fish just can’t resist it.
These lures can be used on a host of species including bream, perch, flathead, barramundi, mangrove jack, queenfish, salmon, tailor, coral trout, snapper and the list continues.
They are robust and ready to be eaten. This lure really needs to be swum to be believed.
Next week, I will show off another two hot products just released and after that, you’ll have to hop down to your local tackle store to view and play with the rest.
This week the team at fishingboating-world have continued on strong and have emerged from their winter slumber to deliver some very interesting features this week.
Gary Brown heads over to Victoria in British Columbia, Canada and had the opportunity to go out for a fish for salmon off the coast. The day’s charter was out with Adam Heffelfinger from Adams Fish Charters. Before Gary went out on the boat with Adam he did a bit of research on what type of fishing the charter has on offer and explains how the day unfolded.
Last week Lee Brake looked at the fishing possibilities available around the creeks of the Seaforth area. This week Lee checks out the inshore islands and rocks that help to make this area such an exciting fishery.
Carl Hyland takes a look at the early season trout prospects around Tasmania and as the season draws closer, Carl explains that using the right fly, will bring success.
I take my Jeep and new Surtees 4.85 and hit the freshwater lake of Bullen Merri in Victoria’s west. An ancient Volcano, Lake Bullen Merri now abounds with trout and salmon with various techniques used to catch them as I explain.
