We also cover exclusively news of the imminent decision on the application by GKI Resort (Tower Holdings) for $600m redevelopment plans on Great Keppel Island including a 200 berth marina. Once approved - according to Federal Tourism Minister, Martin Ferguson, as soon as two weeks from now - it would be the first new significant tourism infrastructure in Queensland for over 20 years and a major facility for boats on Queensland coastal passages.

As we are the largest sailing news source in the world, we get literally thousands of media releases each month from events, clubs and classes keen to reach our 220,000 readers.

When events, clubs and organisations send out media releases, it’s presumably because they want media publications to use their content... But gosh some of them make it hard.

The quality of the material is to say the least variable, a lot of it is very good, some brilliant, some with English as a fourth language and in between we have to deal with content delivered in a whole slew of different ways.

We realise that if we don’t give feedback on what we are receiving, it won’t get better so rather than just hitting the delete button, and we are explaining the do´s and don’ts. Here is the skinny on another Don´t.

Why annoy Media, if you want their help? Today we explain just why it’s important NOT to use PDF's for Electronic Press Releases.
