At the Melges 20 Audi Sailing Series in Porto Ercole, the weather instability was stronger and more than the Race Committee had expected for the start of Event number two. Weather forecasts called for big breeze which in turn, resulted in no racing on Saturday. Officials were prepared to conduct racing as late as 18.00, but instead teams were sent packing back to the docks.

Enfant Terrible was sailing in fifth place of the final race at the Farr 40 East Coast Championship when tactician Vasco Vascotto made a bold move. Vascotto decided to split from the leaders and head toward the left side of the course, a risky move because it could have cost skipper Alberto Rossi the regatta.

On Saturday morning the Luna Rossa AC72 sailed for the first time in San Francisco in the bay where the Louis Vuitton Cup and America’s Cup regattas will take place starting July 7th.
With an early morning roll out, Luna Rossa sailed in light winds (3 knots) that increased up to 12 and allowed the crew to carry out an extensive number of manoeuvres.

For a second year running, the award-winning sailboat racing simulator SailX.com will be running the 'Virtual ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships'. Following last years' successful collaboration with ISAF and the team in Dublin, this years' virtual event will take place from 20th May – 30th June 2013.

At the Women’s International Match Racing Series in Saint Quay, there were no Saturday surprises, as all four of the crews that dominated the double round-robin also qualified for the semi-finals. The event's sovereign Lucy Macgregor of Great Britain, and Klaartje Zuiderbaan from The Netherlands, both swept away their opponents with a clean 3 - 0 score in their respective quarterfinal.

'It’s not normally like this' – is a phrase regularly heard in sailing circles in reference to ‘unusual weather’, however for once this has worked in the favour of competitors. After a brief lull in the middle of the day, the wind filled in this afternoon and the sun came out allowing the race committee to complete Qualifying and start the Quarter Finals.

Oakcliff’s Spring Clinegatta is fully underway with eight teams from four countries competing. Six Oakcliff Saplings will be handed off to the Atlantic Cup to serve as media crew members on Open 40s racing from New York City to Newport RI on Saturday morning. The first weekend of the classic spring series will run Saturday and Sunday.

Kirby Inc. yesterday dramatically increased the pressure on LP, ISAF and the ILCA when they asked the US Federal Court in Connecticut to issue a prejudgment remedy against LP.
If this was to be granted as requested LP and its associates would be unable to build Lasers or have anyone else build them for them, while the Courts then could take their time hearing the case.

When asked to describe day three of the Farr 40 East Coast Championship, John Demourkas drank a beer while sitting in his support boat at the Annapolis Yacht Club docks and just shook his head. The California skipper remains baffled by the conditions on the Chesapeake Bay, but felt fortunate that his Groovederci team held onto third place for the third straight day.

The six person Committee was established by America's Cup organisers following the fatal accident when training, involving Artemis Racing, the Swedish Challenger for the 34th America's Cup. The Selection Committee for the 47th Annual Governor’s Cup International Junior Match Race Championship has completed work on selection of the 12 international and US teams that will compete in this year’s regatta which will be held at Balboa Yacht Club from July 16-21 in Newport Beach, California.

The sixth edition of the Korea Cup International Yacht Race is now underway off the eastern coastline of Korea. On the second day of Match Race Germany, Lake Constance remained well behaved. A light sub-10 knot northwesterly blowing down the lake allowed Rudi Magg’s race management team to hold eight flights, leaving all twelve teams having sailed nine races of this Qualifying stage of the event.

The Chicago Match Race Center (CMRC) embarks on its fifth season of hosting one-on-one match race sailing with this weekend's Grade 3 CMRC Spring Invitational. On Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19th, ten teams from throughout the US will compete in equally-matched TOM 28 class keelboats in a Round-Robin, Quarter-Final, Semi-Final and Final format of racing.

The inaugural Women's International Match Racing Series got underway today with the first event in St Quay-Portrieux, France. Lucy Macgregor of Great Britain summed up seven straight victories, shining alone undefeated at the top of the scoreboard. Speaking about the 2014 A2B Ocean Race, Dalton said – 'over recent years there has been quite a decline in the off-shore racing circuit in NZ. It really needed a shot in the arm to get people ocean racing again, and to blood the next group of round the world sailors. The A2B Race starting on February the ninth next year could do that'.

The start of Match Race Germany was marked by a lengthy day of Lake Constance. With the wind off Langenargen just strong enough to sail but rarely getting above ten knots, the organisers ripped through ten flights of the qualifying round, bringing all of the twelve international teams up to five races sailed.

A highlight of Antigua Sailing Week this year was the Nonsuch Bay RS Elite Challenge which took place on Lay Day. The invitational event sailed in 24-foot RS Elite keelboats was watched by hundreds of spectators on Pigeon Beach.
