Summary Centrally located on the Adriatic coast, Split attracts visitors from all over the world. The cultural and economic center of Dalmatia is well known for its sailing conditions, sailing traditions and skilled Croatian sailors.

Sailing is a rich part of both Split and Croatia’s history. The earliest known sporting event in the history of Croatia is a boat race. In 1764, two fishing boas representing the Croatian cities of Split and Makarska sailed from an islet near Milna, on the island of Brac, to Split.

The 2004 ACI HTmobile Cup marked the 18th running of the regatta.
