The Optimist World Championship 2012 fourth day racing schedule was affected by the tropical weather so the race committee decided to begin early. The start was scheduled for 10.30am and the athletes had to be really early at the Yacht Club to prepare their boats.

The conditions were similar to the previous days, with a medium breeze and a big swell, making things trickier for most of the young sailors. The races stared soon after some general recalls. Singapore’s Yokoyama had a great start and an early lead at the race. Close behind her was Nederland’s Lambriex, who’s fighting to get back on the podium after his bad performance yesterday. Finally Yokoyama extended her lead and had an easy win in today’s race. That gave her a two points gap from her compatriot Neo Samuel Jiun Jie that is now second at the leaderboard, after scoring a third place in today’s race. Singapore is still dominating the podium and Goh Jessica Kai Ling after scoring a bullet is still in third place. Clapp Max from Great Britain won today’s race in his group and managed to climb in fourth place, in front of Bart Lambriex in fifth.

Pacheco Maria Justina from Dominican Republic had a good chance today to improve her position, after rounding in 10th place the top mark. The fleet though was very crowded at the rounding’s and she lost some places at the gate.

Finally she managed to finish 16th and is now in 84th place still holding a disqualification race.

Only one race was finally sailed, due to stormy weather that followed after. Tomorrow the best teams will through themselves to battle for the title of the Team Racing World Champion. 48 countries will qualify and go through qualification series in order to make it to the final. The Team Racing is scheduled for Saturday with the qualifying series and the final stage on Sunday with the top 16 teams competing.

Don't miss the exciting battles and find out who is going to be the 2012 Team Racing Champion.
