Sail-World.com : Governor's Cup day 3
Governor's Cup day 3 winds moved to the south on Friday, the ocean smoothed out and the temperature rose into the high 70’s early in the day. However, later the wind clocked around to the west and grew to eleven knots.
The chop grew as well causing more splash to help keep the racers cool. The Quarter Final Round Robin began at noon. Five rounds were sailed before it was time to come in for a big reception. The America’s Cup trophy was brought to Balboa Yacht Club by the Vice Commodore of the Golden Gate Yacht Club and head of the America’s Cup syndicate.
Presentations were made about the A/C events to many young racers from local yacht clubs and guests.
After five rounds, the results were added to those from the first round robin.
Nevin Snow of SDYC is in the lead with twelve points, closely followed by five teams with totals of ten points each. They are Ryan Davidson of the home team, BYC, Jordan Reece of RSYS, Ashlyn Rooklyn of CYC, David Hazard of RNZYS, and Tim Coltman of RPNYC.
Racing will resume tomorrow to complete the final two flights of that round and will be followed by a series of knock-out races both Saturday and Sunday to decide the final standings. Trophies will be awarded on Sunday afternoon.
