Shipmate recognized in Annual Victorian Marine Industry Awards
|
Shipmate Directories, publisher of Shipmate Marine Directory and Shipmate News has been recognized in the BIAV / IC Frith Victorian Marine Awards. The awards, held annually to publicly recognize outstanding achievements by organizations or individuals in the marine industry, are hosted by the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV), sponsored by IC Frith and announced at the annual Melbourne Boat Show Breakfast held on 06 July at the River Room at Crown Casino In accepting the Victorian Marine Service Industry Award, John Zammit founder and publisher of Shipmate said, 'We never set out to win any awards, we just thought that we had an opportunity to do something that would assist boaters but, it’s nice having your work acknowledged and knowing it’s appreciated both, within the boating fraternity and the marine industry in general.' Prior to John founding Shipmate, boaters often had difficulty in locating trades and services, especially for big boats that live in-water. Shipmate’s philosophy of providing free listings to anyone providing a trade or service to boater’s means it’s an all-inclusive and fully comprehensive guide, an excellent resource for boaters, and the perfect vehicle for service providers to reach their market – a win-win for all. In supporting the award Vin Wright, Parks Victoria, Acting Regional Manager, Bays and Maritime Operations said, 'Shipmate is a valuable resource and communication tool for Parks Victoria and provides a valuable contribution to the recreational boating industry.' Maryanne Edwards CEO of the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia added, 'In my view Victorian boaters and the industry are fortunate to have access to such an excellent resource.' Lynnette Thompson from Flotilla CG1, Australian volunteer Coast Guard said, 'Shipmate is a very informative book and should be encouraged for the public to have on their vessel' Shipmate Marine Directory is produced in a range of mediums. A free, handy pocket guide, a website for those with access to the web and a free iPhone App for information ‘on the go’, Generally, boaters use a combination of all three. As well as the marine directory John also publishes Shipmate News, a free, twice-monthly marine e-newsletter keeping boaters and industry up to date with happenings on the boating scene.
