RS:X Youth European Championships Day 3
|
RS:X Youth European Championships 2012 third day got underway in Tallinn, Estonia. Bright sunshine. A short postponement. A soft breeze from the Northeast. Two races for the light wind specialists. Pawel Tarnowski [POL] the overnight leader was late rigging up and late for the first start of the day so posted his worst result - 10th - in race six before regaining his equilibrium and winning the seventh. No harm done he still leads. In fact Kieran Martin [GBR] is now four points back and Mattia Camboni a further five behind him. In fact, if the forecast 20 knots of wind arrives tomorrow, Pawel may extend his led even further. We will see but for the moment the top three are well defined and unlikely to be upset Over in the Youth Women's fleet, Veronica Fanciulli [ITA] and Neomi Cohen [ISR] traded firsts and seconds to stay in the gold and silver positions now well clear of Basia Dmuchowaska [POL] in third. Saskia Sills [GBR] who is still only sixteen did herself no harm at all by finishing fourth in the seventh race and in the process moving past Anastasiya Valkevich [BLR] to claim fourth place overall. The battle between Veronica and Neomi will go down to the wire here at the RS:X Youth Europeans but it won't end there. Just a few days later they will both be on the start line at the ISAF Youth World Championships in Ireland, where they must be hot favorites for medals. Which colour no one can predict. What we can say is that no matter what the wind speed these two will dominate. RS:X Youth Men 1. Pawel Tarnowski [POL] 9.0 2. Kieran Martin [GBR] 13.0 3. Mattia Camboni [ITA] 18.0 4. Imry Katz [ISR] 27.0 5. Amir Galili [ISR] 28.0 RS:X Youth Women 1. Veronica Fanciulli [ITA] 10.0 2. Neomi Cohen [ISR] 14.0 3. Basia Dmuchowska [POL] 21.0 4. Saskia Sills [GBR] 29.0 5.
