2012 Toronto Area Hospice Regatta for Perram House June 15-16

'Toronto Area Hospice Regatta 2012 this weekend will support Perram House'

The real winners of the 2012 Toronto Area Hospice Regatta are; Perram House, a residential hospice providing end-of-life care in Toronto and the sailors that get to compete in a 'first class' one design racing event. The regatta now in its fifth year has raised much awareness for the good work of Perram House and over $100,000 for its financial operations. The sailors will compete for trophies on June 15th & 16th .

Perram House provides patient centric care to individuals who have a limited life expectancy. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team of professionals all of whom specialize in palliative care. The program includes: nursing personal support, psychosocial and spiritual care placing residents in control of his or her life.

Frank McCrea, Board Chair of Perram House wishes all competitors of this year’s regatta every success with their racing efforts. Further he added 'The pleasure that flows from intense competition and the satisfaction in knowing that their participation is making a significant contribution to individuals in their time of greatest need.'

National Yacht Club of Toronto Commodore Henry Piersig welcomes over 60 boats in 8 fleets will battle is out on the north shore of Lake Ontario. The competing fleets include:
Beneteau 36.7, Beneteau 10R, C&C 99, C&C 115, J22, 2.4 Metre, Melges 20, Melges 24 Star Class, 8 Metre, J80

Melges 24 sailor Richard Reid, Chair of the Toronto Area Hospice Regatta is very proud of this regatta that has grown from a mere 28 boats four years ago to a must event this year. Reid remembers 'The original idea was to twin a great one design regatta with the inner this city hospice and this is way have a truly have one design racing while doing the right thing; give back'.

The Toronto Area Hospice Regatta is a proud partner of the National Regatta Hospice Alliance, a partnership involving 23 different Hospice Regattas held annually across North America. The Overall Regatta Winner of the TAHR will earn a chance for 'winner take all' at the Champion of Champions Regatta to be held next April in St. Petersburg Fl. Last year's winner was Gary Tisdale's crew (who won his class in his 36.7 at TAHR)
