Magnamoor - for simple, single handed retrieval of a mooring

The Australian designed and manufactured 'Magnamoor' mooring solution has been developed to make the single handed departure and retrieval of a mooring for a medium to large (8 to 20m+) sized boat a reality.

By utilising an electromagnet with built in CCTV camera which attaches to the bow of any boat and a custom designed mooring buoy, the skipper is able to safely moor the boat single handed in most conditions.

Once the vessel has attached to the mooring the Skipper can attach the mooring lines at their leisure - taking all of the muscle and stress out of the equation and assisting to ensure the last memories of the day on the water are good ones.

Product developer, Paul Smit said the inspiration came from the challenges of parking his own boat, a 50ft Shionning catamaran.

'Singlehandedly, it’s almost impossible to get to your mooring ropes on time, especially on a windy day,' explains Paul. 'For that reason, we developed an electro-magnetic mooring buoy for the purpose of holding the boat until such time as you can walk up and pick up the mooring ropes.'

Qualified engineer, Bill Audley co-developed the product with Paul. 'There’s nothing as simple as this on the market. It will also allow your wife or child to pick up the mooring ropes while they have no load on them – the magnet takes the whole weight of the boat.'

The product is patented and the company is keen to consider local and international distribution. Magnamoor will be on show at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, Booth 142 in the MarineBusiness-World.com pavilion.
