Gosford to Lord Howe Island Yacht Race new Race Director, Tony Evans, has been appointed announces the Board of the Gosford Sailing Club.

Having previously held the position in 2000, 2001 and 2003 Tony brings professionalism, experience and a desire to 'make a race of it' once again.

The Club has given Evans and his experienced Committee a mandate to make the wholesale changes necessary to return the race to the status of the most coveted Cat 1 Ocean Race in Australian waters.

It is the intention of the new Race Director to move the Event to a position on the calendar to attract the best race fleet possible.

As a result of the new appointment, the Gosford Sailing Club will not be conducting a race on the traditional late October date this year.

An exact date has yet to be settled upon, but it is most likely that the next race will occur late March or early April next year at the conclusion of the Sailing season.

It is expected that a firm date will be set for the Race within the next few weeks, but the Gosford Club felt it prudent to advise of the pending change so that those preparing seasonal calendars can make the necessary allowance in their planning.

Further information regarding the exciting changes to the Lord Howe race will follow once the new Committee has met later this month.
