Sail-World.com : Final Day of Secondary School Team Sailing Nationals at Algies Bay
Final Day of Secondary School Team Sailing Nationals at Algies Bay

'Launching boats at Algies Bay, North Auckland'    Darryl Torckler

The final day of the Secondary School Team Sailing Nationals looks likely to be a nail-biter, with top teams having performed quite variably in the three round robins.

11 races remain to complete the third round robin for the 10-team gold fleet. Kerikeri High, dominant in the first two rounds, were less successful in the third, but still look likely finalists. Christchurch Boys, Mahurangi, Lindisfarne, Westlake Boys and St Kentigern are in the next five places, with Taupo and Westlake Girls still in with a chance to make the top-six final round. Previous winners Tauranga Boys have been the star performers in the third round but will have difficulty making the final as points from all three rounds are counted. Westlake Girls, the only all-girls team in the gold fleet, will also be favourites to win the Girls’ final and the Park Trophy.

Light shifty conditions are forecast to continue tomorrow, making the outcome even more difficult to predict than usual.
