Yachting NSW Class Development Program takes your class further

'NSW Sabot sailors'    Mainsheet Media

Yachting New South Wales, as the peak body for the sport of sailing in the state, has a regular program of courses designed to enhance the skills level and encourage participation of sailors at all levels.

Now in its fifth year, the Yachting New South Wales Class Development Program is for the first time being run through Sailing Clubs to better assist the recognised junior and youth classes across the state.

The program is designed to work with sailors and club coaches in order to help them prepare for their class State and National Championships, and to develop a broad base of skills across the clubs and classes by providing coaching support and appropriate funding.

Training support provided will be organised on a class specific basis taking into consideration fleet sizes, and classes and clubs are encouraged to work with other clubs in their region in order to maximize the positive effect that the development program will have.

Training dates are flexible as Yachting New South Wales will work with the clubs, classes and club coaches in order to best suit schedules and the program budget. School holidays and after school training can be considered, and clubs need to be able to provide appropriate resources such as coach boats in order to make the program effective.

Sabot, Manly Junior, Optimist, Flying 11, 29er, 420, and Laser classes are currently eligible to receive coaching support under the program. Clubs will need to apply by May 25th as the planning is under way now to secure the best support, confirm dates for club calendars, and minimise any conflict with season commitments.

If you are a qualified coach Yachting New South Wales also encourages you to get in touch via the online application form and get involved. This is an ideal opportunity to be part of the development program and support the youth sailors.

Go to the Yachting New South Wales website now and fill in your class application form, take your class further.
